Biography

Camille Mansour is secretary-general of IPS Board of Trustees, and member of Birzeit University Board of Trustees. He was professor of international relations and Middle East Politics at Paris University from 1984 to 2004. He also taught at Birzeit University where he founded and headed the Institute of Law (1994-2000) in the framework of which he established al-Muqtafi, the Palestine Judicial and Legislative Databank, and was the dean of its Faculty of Law and Public Administration (2007-2009). Between 2004 and 2006, he was a UNDP Senior Advisor for the Palestinian Rule of Law and Judiciary, Jerusalem. He is currently the chief-editor of the Interactive Encyclopedia of the Palestine Question, a joint online project of the Institute for Palestine Studies and the Palestinian Museum. He is the author or chief-editor of a number of books. Among them: The Handbook of Israel (Beirut, IPS, 2011), in Arabic; Transformed Landscapes: Essays on Palestine and the Middle East in Honor of Walid Khalidi (edited with Leila Fawaz, The American University in Cairo Press, 2009); The Palestine Yearbook of International Law, volumes 2000/2001 to 2004/2005 (The Hague, Kluwer Law International in Cooperation with Institute of Law, Birzeit University); Beyond Alliance: Israel in U.S. Foreign Policy (Columbia University Press, jointly with IPS, 1994) (also available in French and Arabic); Les Palestiniens de l'intérieur (edited, les livres de la Revue d'études palestiniennes, 1989); Yearbook of Palestine and the Arab-Israeli Conflict, volumes 1972 to 1976 in Arabic (IPS); L'autorité dans la pensée musulmane (Librairie philosophique, 1975).
