Event | One of the main issues hindering a truce in the Gaza Strip is the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Philadelphia Corridor, which they occupied in May 2024. On 1 September 2005, as part of Israel's disengagement plan from Gaza, Egypt and Israel reached a protocol whereby Egypt would deploy lightly armed border guards along this axis.
