Abstract

This book covers the resolutions of the Arab summits on the issue of Palestine and the occupied city of Jerusalem, from the first "Anshas Summit" in 1946 until the "Tunis Summit" in 2019. Each of these resolutions is preceded by a short introduction that places it in its historical context. The book also includes the decisions of the Islamic summits on the issue of Palestine and the occupied city of Jerusalem, since the first Islamic summit held in Rabat in September 1969, in response to an extremist Jewish settler setting fire to Al-Aqsa Mosque, until the last fourteenth summit that was held in Meccain May 2019. In addition, it includes excerpts from the speeches of Arab leaders at some Arab summits on the question of Palestine.
When referring to these resolutions and speeches, it becomes apparent that a number of Arab and Islamic countries have not, in many cases, adhered to the contents of the resolutions issued and approved by the Arab and Islamic summits. Rather pursued policies towards Palestine, the Arab-Israeli conflict and the issue of occupied Jerusalem, that are inconsistent with the content of these resolutions. In fact, by normalizing their relations with Israel, some of the Arab countries shun the "Arab Peace Initiative", which was approved by the Beirut Summit in 2002, linking the establishment of normal relations with Israel with its complete withdrawal from the occupied Arab lands occupied in 1967, and reaching a just solution to the Palestinian refugees problem in accordance with the United Nations General Assembly’s resolution 194, and the acceptance of the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on Palestinian lands occupied since the fourth of June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
