Abstract

This book provides a historical narrative presented by a witness of the Israeli Invasion of Lebanon, and of the negotiations related to the withdrawal of Palestine Liberation Organization forces and its leaders from Beirut, in the summer of 1982.

The author uses resources from the Palestinian archive, along with interviews with Arab and Palestinian leaders and foreign diplomats.

Rashid Khalidi is the president of the American Committee on Jerusalem, Washington, D.C., Edward Said Chair in Arab Studies at Columbia University, director of the Middle East Institute at Columbia University, and editor of the Journal of Palestine Studies. He is author of major works on the Middle East.
