Highlight | In 1974, the Palestinian National Council announced the seventeenth of April as a National Day for the Palestinian Prisoner, which Palestinians observe in Palestine and the diaspora. This decision aims to support about five thousand Palestinian men, women and children incarcerated  in Israeli prisons and to remind the the world of the extent of Israel's violation of human rights, the principles and rules of international humanitarian law, and the Fourth Geneva Convention.
