Abstract

This book provides an overview and analysis of the significance of unarmed civil (popular) resistance in the Palestinian national movement. While the main focus is on the contemporary popular resistance movement in the Occupied Territories, the book provides also a historical review of the thread of unarmed civil resistance that has run throughout the history of the Palestinian liberation struggle.

The importance of this book lies in its capacity to draw contemporary readership to this under-emphasized dimension of the Palestinian struggle, while arguing that at the present juncture the popular resistance movement is the most significant form of struggle.

The book also addresses the international dimension of the Palestinian struggle, focusing particularly on the BDS campaign, the role of international solidarity activists in the occupied territories and beyond, and the forms of engagement developed by international agencies seeking to work on the roots of the conflict.
