Abstract

This study considers that Arab oil will remain a major source of energy in the coming decades, and thus a potential source of support for the Palestinian cause as well as for other Arab national interests. The study urges a reconsideration of Arab oil policies as they concern the Palestinian cause.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Yusif A. Sayigh is a leading Palestinian scholar and economist who served for twenty years as professor of economics at the American University of Beirut. He was also visiting professor at both Harvard and Princeton, USA. Sayigh was head of the PLO Planning Council and of the Palestine National Fund. He has been a member of the Palestine National Council since its establishment in 1964. He is the author of numerous authoritative works on Middle East economics in Arabic and English.
